June 19, 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of celebrating the end of slavery in the USA. Celebrating the end of an embarrassing and dark chapter in the history of a country that refers to itself as the land of the free and home of the brave. The US was 100 years behind England and all other major free-world countries in ending slavery. Following slavery was another 80 years of Jim Crow and legalized segregation and oppression in the USA. We celebrate with a new determination to end racism in our country. We have hope in the younger generation to appreciate the diversity of individuality. We’re at our best and strongest when we embrace the diversity of all of our people.
