Celebration Hall Rental

The African American Museum of Iowa (AAMI) offers two spaces for rent.

  1. Aldeen Davis Celebration Hall – Located within the AAMI this facility looks out over the Harper Terrace and the Cedar River Trail to the Cedar River and can hold 240 persons theater style or 200 at round tables seating 8 per table.  The Hall is equipped with a audio/visual system and projection screen and has an attached catering kitchen.  This space is a common site for wedding receptions, community forums and business workshops.
  2. AEGON Learning Lab – Located within the AAMI, this meeting room can hold 35 people. It offers a projection screen and audio capabilities, and is also home to the AAMI’s Library.  This room is often used as a classroom, for business retreats or for small community gatherings.

Celebration Hall connects to the AAMI’s permanent and temporary exhibits and the Learning Lab is just down hall from them; both can be opened during events upon request. Parking for both facilities is available in the AAMI’s lot and/or surrounding areas. Set-up is done by AAMI staff and Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire facility.

Rates:

Aldeen Davis Celebration Hall:

Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.: $50 per hour or $175.00 for 4 hours or $300 for 8 hours.

Nights & Weekends: $100 per hour

AEGON Learning Lab:

Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.: $35 per hour or $120.00 for 4 hours or $200 for 8 hours.

Nights & Weekends: $50 per hour

-  Non-profit organizations receive a 15% discount (excluding housekeeping fee).

- A $50 housekeeping fee is required for all rentals.

-  An AAMI Staff member will be on site during each event.

Celebration Hall Rentals Only:

-  Renter will be allowed to use the Harper Terrace (weather permitting) and all available chairs and tables (60″ round tables or 6′ oblongs).

-  A catering kitchen is available, but food preparation must be done off-site.

-  Table cloths and skirts are available for $3.00 per table cloth and $15.50 per table skirt.

- Decorations are allowed on the tables, and may be hung from the ceilings, but cannot be attached to the walls.

- No smoking is allowed in the AAMI.
