Annual Banquet
The Museum's annual celebration of education and achievement
is a fundraiser benefiting the Museum's educational programs.
Held in the spring, the banquet recognizes an outstanding
scholar and features a keynote speaker dedicated to the
education of our children.
The next Annual Banquet is scheduled for March 27, 2010.

Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration of the ending
of slavery. The Museum commemorates this historic day with
a festival that includes a celebration day, summer camp,
and soul food dinner.

African
American Women's Leadership Conference
August 26-27, 2010.
This unique celebration of the legacy of African American
women in Iowa offers an opportunity for attendees to meet
other professional African American women, celebrate the proud
tradition and contributions of African American women, explore
what that legacy means to the past, present and the future
and learn how to make a difference in your community. |

Collaborations and Other Special Events
The Museum collaborates with other organizations to
offer exciting programs. Past events have included a dinner
with NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, presentations from reconcilliation
workers in Africa, an award-winning Mardi Gras party for
Hurricane Katrina evacuees, and a Peace and Freedom march
from Coe College to the Museum.
