Conference Overview
The African American Historical Museum and Cultural Center of
Iowa is holding its third Women's Leadership Conference. The conference
is a celebration of the heritage of African American women in
our state, a unique networking event, and a development opportunity
for the Museum. The Museum sees this conference as the fulfillment
of a promise it made when Iowans supported its construction, that
it would provide opportunities for African Americans to come together
and celebrate regardless of church, politics, or geographic location.
Our primary audience for this conference is African American professional
women, a group of people who are wanted and needed by the business
community of our state, but for whom there is little supportive
infrastructure for building community. However, the conference
planning will guarantee that all people who come will find value
and benefit from the content.
The Museum anticipates between 300-400 attendees from all walks
of life, all corners of the state, with a common desire: to celebrate
the accomplishments and future of African American women in Iowa.
